Founder’s Message
Everyone at Equitas, including our support team, has years of experience, first as business owners, then in business brokerage.
We’re not a high-volume practice. If we accept your request to represent you, you get everyone’s focused attention. To work the way we do, we can only accept a few clients per year. That also means our success rate has to be excellent. (Some brokerages sell fewer than half of the clients they sign up).
Some brokers make their top-level presentation an optional extra. There are no second-class services (or clients) at Equitas. Many businesses are outside of our interest, so if we choose yours, its because we can do great work for you.
THIS – selling our clients’ companies – is what we do. Together, we have a few lifetimes of experiences — successes and failures — which have taught us many things. Perhaps the most important of which is, how to work.

BROKER-INTERMEDIARY
Ron is both the founder of Equitas M&A and Broker of Record. He is a Certified Business Intermediary and a member of the International Business Brokers Association, previously serving as Secretary-Treasurer.
Ron also holds designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Certified Business Appraiser, and a Licenced Real Estate Broker. His entrepreneurial work includes creating the Canadian network of Coldwell Banker offices.

James Stan

BROKER-INTERMEDIARY
Jim has a lifetime of entrepreneurial experience in finance, technology, advertising, and publishing. He is currently a Broker with Ron at Equitas. A member of the International Business Brokers Association, Jim received the Chairman’s Circle Award in 2019.
He’s also a licenced Realtor. Jim has been the lead broker for many transactions over the past few years and can boast of a long list of positive testimonials.

Guylaine Ure

Guylaine is known for her sense of urgency, strategic thinking, and dedication to delivering measurable results aligned with her clients’ goals. She stays up to date with industry trends and best practices through continuous education and professional development. She was recognized as Business Broker of the Year at her former brokerage and received the IBBA Chairman’s Circle Award in 2024.
She is an experienced business intermediary with a strong track record of helping clients achieve successful outcomes in buying and selling businesses. Guylaine holds the Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) designation and is a member of the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA).

James Stan

INTERMEDIARY
Phil Miller is an experienced business intermediary who has built, grown, and exited a number of businesses across sectors including tech, digital print, and real estate. He previously served as both general and limited partner in real estate holdings exceeding $60M CAD and held a leadership role in a mentoring group focused on multi-family acquisitions, targeting 500+ units under management. Earlier in his career, Phil led the national distribution team at Microsoft Canada and held senior sales roles at Epicor Software, where he closed record-setting ERP and CRM deals.
